Brand Loyalty and Festival Vendor Strategy

TEXAS FOOD VENDORS ASSOCIATION
WRITTEN FOR OPERATORS, NOT ORGANIZERS

Some festivals book one vendor per category. Some book whoever pays. The difference shows up a year later, in who comes back.

For Planners: Curate Like You Mean It

A lineup with five corndog stands splits one category’s revenue five ways. A lineup with one gives that vendor room to actually make money — and gives him a reason to apply again next year, set up early, and tell every vendor on his circuit the show is worth chasing.

That’s the case for curation. It isn’t about playing favorites. It’s about building a show where each vendor has a lane. Vendors notice which festivals get this right. They apply early. They show up clean. They recommend the show to people they trust.

The trade-off is real — protecting one vendor’s spot means turning down five others who wanted it. That’s the job. A planner who holds that line builds a reputation vendors can check, and that reputation is worth more than one extra booth fee.

For Vendors: Persistence Is the Job

A no this year isn’t a no forever. Categories fill. Vendors retire. New planners take over and rebuild the lineup from scratch. The spot that’s locked up today can be open next season.

The vendor who gets the call when that happens is the one who kept applying — every year, professional, ready. That’s not luck. That’s a track record a planner can verify.

Ten years in this trade teaches one rule: never stop applying to the show you want. Staying visible is half the job.

Curation builds the show. Persistence earns the spot in it. Either way, what gets checked is the receipts — not the pitch.
